CAT Match Report
Tense Victory For the Hosts
Hosts Thailand managed to gain their first tensed victory by 1 wicket at AIT, against Maldives.>
First match in Bangkok was a great with both sides eager to make an early impression. But it was Thailand who had a positive start by taking the 1st wicket on the second ball of the innings. At the beginning there was some good seam bowling by Thailand Captain Vihar Shah who was able to take two wickets in his first two overs. Then soon Maldives took control over the game with a great partnership between Mohamed Rishwan and Mohamed Jailam, who took the score to 52 from 10 overs.
Though seamers were not that lucky, spinners dominated the innings, Jai bhagwat (5-24) and Vichanath Singh (2-3) both who ran through the batting order and restricted Maldives for the total of 96 runs in 26.1 overs.
Thailand had a thrilling start till the fall of first wicket of Wanchana Uisuk who was hitting the ball all over the ground. They gradually slowed down after 10 overs due to fall of wickets at quick intervals. With 44 for 2 in the 11th over they were down to 9/91 by the start of 32 over. Though Maldives took wickets on regular intervals, the flow of runs by extras was significant in a span of 32.4 overs Maldives gave an extra run for every over.
Tense innings for the hosts came to an end in their favor
