CAT Match Report
It’s a cool sunny day in Chaing Mai and looks to produce some quality cricket. Myanmar won the toss and elected to bat first. Myanmar had lost both their opening batsmen before the end of the 4th over with just 4 runs being posted on the board. Min Hein Khant and Myat Min Hein stabilized the batting to an extent puting on a partnership of 23 runs before Khant was out caught by Zabidullah Danish on the bowling of Najibullah Zadarn. Myanmar lost a future two wickets in the next 5 overs and very reduced to 29 for 5 at the end of the 19th over. The rest of the Myanmar line up didn’t put up much resistance apart from Khin and Aye none of the remaining batsmen lasted more then 3 balls. Myanmar well all out having scored just 48 runs of the bat. However their total was helped by some wayward bowling by the Afghan boys whom gave away 27 extras, 21 of which were wides.
With a small total of 78 to defend Maynamar had to take early wickets while Afghanistan wanted to make a quick day of it. Afghanistan got off to a flyer with Najibullah Zadarn smashing three fours before he was caught by Min Wai of the bowling of Yan Naing Aung. Even after Zadarn dismissal their wasn’t much reprieve for Myanmar. Said Abdullah Sahidi took over where Zadaran had left off, as he smashed 26 runs which included a six and four fours of just 18 deliveries. Afghanistan had the match wrapped up within the 8th over, successfully chasing down the 77 run target with 31.1 overs to spare.
Afzal Khan Zazi was awarded the man of the match trophy sponsored by Asia United CC for his displined bowling effort which netted him 3 wickets.
