Afghanistan leaves Chiang-Mai with high hopes
Afghanistan took advantage of every flaw in Iran to win by 10 wickets in the last Chiang-Mai group Match. Afghanistan bowling attack was on target today, Afghanistan bowlers were not interested in taking wickets in fact they were more concerned about slowing down the run rate. Which was an effective game plan and eventually Iran started losing wickets in desperation of making runs.
Iran played a very calm innings most of the batsman stayed on the crease for quite a while but did not manage to get runs on the board. Great efforts were portrayed by two bowlers in particular, Said Abdullah managed to get three wickets in his marvelous eight over’s, while Naji Bullah stole away the show with three wickets in only six over’s.
Afghanistan’s batsmen were keen not to lose any wickets as they only required thirty five runs off the bat to bring them home to yet another victory. Sajid Abdullah and Naji bullah both stayed not out for a winning partnership that got them closer to the finals.
The bowlers from Iran did not get a chance to demonstrate their bowling capabilities as only forty five runs were required to be chased. The game was over by the ninth over leaving Afghanistan with a win by ten wickets.
