BPS INVITATIONAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT 2012

As tradition continues, Bangkok Patana School (BPS) hosted another successful invitational junior tournament collaboration with the Cricket Association of Thailand.  The tournament was played over two days at BPS's sports complex consisting of 8, 15 over games with 4 teams participating.  Teams comprised of BPS, RIS, All-stars and U19 Thailand women's team.  Even though BPS and RIS were not able to have many training sessions prior to the tournament, players were enthusiastic and played together very well.  Both schools have many students who are interested in cricket and have been playing for many years in a small scale however after this tournament there would definitely be a notion from both schools to perhaps take cricket to the next level.  All-star team was composed of boys and girls under the Bangkok junior coaching program run at the BPS.  While the women's team had been training for the past 2 months in Chiang-mai, this tournament provided good match practices in a competitive level.  The U19 Women's team will be going to Kuwait beginning of February to participate in the ACC U-19 Women's Championship.  The tournament resulted with All-star taking 1st place, followed by RIS in 2nd, Women's in 3rd and BPS at 4th.  The tournament has again proved to be a great development tool to build cricket in Bangkok and spread the word of cricket among schools.  CAT later this year is organizing an Inter-school tournament which will comprise of approximately 10 schools from Bangkok.
