THAILAND FIGHT TO THE LAST
Thai girls claim third place
Thailand finished the ACC Women’s Twenty Championship on a high note by beating Nepal by 13 runs to win the play-off for third place. The Thai girls gave their all in the field as they defended a total of just 76, off-spinner Nantanit Khoncan taking four wickets. Nepal had beaten Thailand in the earlier group match so the Thais were looking to put the record straight and after fielding first in all five matches so far bravely changed tactics and elected to bat on winning the toss.

Both teams had lost in semi-finals the day before but it was Thailand who took the initiative as Sornnarin Tippoch opened alongside Pundarika Prathanmitr and when the score reached fifty inside 10 overs Thailand looked to be on course for a good total.

THAILAND TOO STRONG FOR UAE
Thai girls make it two wins in two days
Thailand’s performances in the ACC Women’s Twenty20 Championship in Kuwait are going from strength to strength, as they followed defeat to Nepal with two victories in successive days. Thailand’s match against Malaysia on Saturday afternoon had been one-sided as the Thai girls won by 10 wickets, but on Sunday they had to work much harder against an improving side from the United Arab Emirates.

UAE looked well placed to reach a total of more than 100 when captain Shruti Pandey was at the crease but once she was dismissed for 42 from 40 balls by Rattana Sangsoma the Thai bowlers took control. Sangsoma finished with the best figures as she took 3 for 17, but Nattakan Chantham and Nattaya Boochatham also impressed as both claimed 2 for 17 and UAE were restricted to a score of 89 for 9 in their 20 overs.
