THAILAND FINISH ON A HIGH

The Thailand boys cricket team have been participating in the ACC U-16 Elite Cup in Malaysia and have given a string of good performances in the last week. Hence, it is a pleasure to report that they have convincingly beaten Bahrain by eight wickets in Kuala Lumpur to finish in fifth place.

Their final position in the tournament does the boys scant justice as they recorded three wins in four matches, losing only to Oman by the narrow margin of two wickets. They missed out on a place in the semi-finals only on run-rate but they signed off on a high note with their best all-round display of the week.

THAILAND FIGHT HARD AGAINST OMAN

Thailand’s boys faced Oman at the Penang Sports Club in a match that would decide the last two semi-finalists in the ACC U-16 Elite Cup being held in Malaysia. Thailand won the toss and elected to bat first and lost early wickets against some good Oman bowling. Kittikoon Tachenam top scored with 25 and Jainam Sanghavi also reached double figures but Thailand’s innings looked likely to come to an early end as Shreyas Malhotra took 3 for 21.

But this young side has shown plenty of character so it was no surprise that the last pair Pongsakorn Sirichaiyodsakun and Sarawut Nithikasemsak battled long and hard to take the total to 94 in 37.3 overs.
