CHIANG MAI DOMINATE ONCE AGAIN

The third  National Youth Cricket Championship which was held in Chanthaburi  from 23rd to 28th March 2012 was a triumph for the Cricket Association of Thailand as nine boys teams and ten  girls teams competed for  honours, and in particular for Chiang Mai who won both boys and girls tournaments and remained unbeaten in all their matches.

YOUTH CRICKET IN THAILAND – FULL SPEED AHEAD

The Cricket Association of Thailand is currently hosting the third National Youth Championship in Chanthaburi, as cricket is developing fast across the provinces of Thailand.

Nine boys teams and 10 girls teams are competing in the biggest tournament yet to be staged in Thailand with a total of 44 matches spread over six days from the 23rd to 28th March 2012.

The first National Youth Championship was held in Bangkok in November 2009 with six boys teams and four girls teams playing a total of 15 matches in a four-day tournament, while the second edition of the event was held in Bangkok in January 2011 with nine boys teams and six girls teams playing a total of 23 matches in four days.

Cricket continues to establish a strong foundation in Thailand with growing number of tournaments, seminars and courses every year.  CAT has set new boundaries and goals for every province by continuously introducing and promoting cricket to new regions.  With close to 5000 boys and girls already playing cricket, these new endless boundaries are giving birth to new players all over Thailand.  CAT’s team continues to broaden cricket throughout Thailand without any self interest and political motivation.  Having set the things in motion with the highly successfully 2nd National Youth Cricket Championship last year, this year an addition of 6 teams, a total of 21 teams will be competing

INTER UNIVERSITY 2012 SPARKS A REVOLUTION

Cricket Association of Thailand recently took another landmark initiative of spreading the game of cricket to the locals with the first ever Inter University Cricket Tournament in Thailand, held at the Terd Thai Ground (TCG) in Lat Krabang, Bangkok.
What was seen during those 6 days of competitive cricket was a mixture of experience and exuberance coming together to form a potent mix, which bodes very well for cricket in Thailand.  Quite a few young and upcoming crickets impressed the club scouts who were on hand to witness the game and a lot of new local young talent was identified during the course of the matches.
